The story of Inside Pressure

Every average conversation starts with: ‘Hey, how are you doing?’ To be honest, I don’t always share the true story. It's in our nature to seek similarities for connection because we don’t want to feel alone. So, when the other person answers this question with: ‘I’m fine, and how are you doing’ and I respond with: ‘I’m not so fine, and there’s something heavy on my mind’ the difference can make me feel isolated. It’s no wonder we’re careful about what we share.

" I don’t always share the true story "

As you may know, I went through a tough time years ago. My song Second Life (listen here) tells the story of my journey through that difficult period (read the story here). However, it was in a more ordinary situation where I truly learned something valuable. Faced with a planning issue at work, I found myself unable to keep my promises. One day, I woke up to a spinning head, feeling like I had failed and angry with myself. After a few hours, I decided that honesty with my client was the best path forward. When I called him and explained the situation, he replied: ‘Thanks for the call, take care of yourself, and good luck.’ In that moment, I felt an immense sense of relief. The stress melted away. I learned that a simple conversation about what’s on your mind can set you free in a magical way. This also reminded me of what helped me recover from my depression years ago. Choosing an alternative life was one step; being open and honest about my situation was another.

" Keep searching for that one person who truly wants to know "

Inside Pressure is a call for those who are feeling overwhelmed to talk about what’s going on inside. I know from experience that finding someone who understands without judgment can be tough. Keep searching for that one person who truly wants to know how you are. Additionally, this song is also a call to those who know someone under pressure. You might think your interest will only add to their burden, but many people appreciate genuine and honest attention. So don’t hesitate, ask and listen. You can make a significant difference in someone else's life.
